What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are ultra-thin shells custom-made from porcelain or composite resin. Often as thin as 0.2mm, they are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to completely transform their appearance.

The key advantage of modern veneers is their conservative approach. Because they are so thin, they require minimal to zero reduction of your natural tooth enamel. This preserves your healthy tooth structure while achieving a dramatic aesthetic improvement, a significant difference from traditional crowns, which require covering the entire tooth. Veneers are the ideal solution for a wide range of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • + Masking deep stains and discoloration

  • + Repairing chips, cracks, or worn-down teeth

  • + Closing gaps between teeth (diastema)

  • + Correcting minor misalignments

  • + Improving tooth shape, size, and proportion

Our Approach

Conservative and minimally invasive.

We will never perform an aggressive preparation when a more conservative method exists. If orthodontics is a better first step, or if you are not an ideal candidate, we will tell you directly. Your long-term dental health is more important to us than a quick procedure.

We would love to be transparent and share our prices publicly. The average price of composite resin veneers is between €80 and €140 per tooth. Porcelain veneers cost around €200 to €540 per tooth. While composite veneers offer a more immediate and affordable solution, porcelain veneers are often the most cost-effective option in the long run due to their superior durability and stain resistance.

Dental veneers come in two main materials, porcelain and composite resin. Each with unique benefits, durability and cost factors. While the final choice often comes down to your preferences, a discussion with a dentist can help clarify what will work best for you.

Dental veneers have a lifespan that ranges from 10 to 15 years, depending on the patient's oral health care and proper maintenance. Although they are resistant, habits such as biting hard objects or grinding your teeth (bruxism) can reduce the veneers' durability. Factors like hygiene habits, stain management, and regular dental visits are essential to extend their lifespan.

In most cases, it is not necessary to prep the tooth for the placement of a dental veneer. Since they are extremely thin, they can be applied directly over the enamel without compromising the natural tooth structure. However, in some cases, a slight amount of tooth reduction may be necessary to ensure the veneer fits perfectly and provides the best cosmetic result.
